A somewhat influencer-y American family excitedly move to a small Norwegian village to open a B&B. Their outgoing extroverted personalities clash somewhat with the introverted nordic sensibilities of the locals. But they clash a lot with the extremely introverted nordic sensibility of the magical tomte that lives in their barn.

Only the pre-teen boy can see the tomte, and he tries to keep him placated with offerings of milk and cookies. The local tomte-expert, which all Norwegian towns probably have, explains that tomtar hate light, sound, and change. The rest of the family doesn't believe in this nonsense, of course, and dad Martin Starr (Bill Haverchuck from Freaks and Geeks) sets about installing millions of christmas lights, loud stereos, and total barn renovations.

The friendly little tomte calls in his tomtar friends from the underground tomte bunker, and they get to work… violently eviscerating all humans. The mild-mannered Instagram family goes through the typical terrified-to-terrifier development, and eventually join together in familial harmony to partake in a garden gnome battle royale with gardening tools and the such.

In a questionable scriptwriting setback, the humans pretty much lose, but the tomtar just decide to give up and leave anyway. Everyone lives happily ever after, except for viewers hoping for logical catharsis.
