Watched on an airplane, notes from phone.

Two villains in one superhero film seems excessive. They're both pretty good, though. The Penguin is top notch, peak villain.

Ideal casting.

Batman making out with a villain who just blew up a building seems wholly inappropes. Batman puts his sexuality before his morality, it would seem.

Not the first Batman fetish film.

It's peak Burton set design, excellent model zooms, and rockin' Elfman soundtrack. Basically a Batman-themed Beetlejuice, and clearly how every Batman film should be.

Long shadows and crooked doorways.

Batman himself is far and away the dumbest and most useless part of this movie. I guess it was before superhero spinoff films were box office sensations, so they couldn't justify just making a Catwoman film yet. They would wait another 12 years before making that mistake.

Nothing wrong with Michael Keaton, though.
