Adam Brody was a well-loved "kid detective", who spent his childhood solving town mysteries like who stole the last puddin' pop and where the class gerbil ended up.
Now he's a slob in his 30s, and still a "kid detective", solving town mysteries like where the old lady's lost cat has gotten off to.
His town hero status vanished years ago, after the town had a real mystery – a young girl gone missing –, and he was neither asked to assist nor able to help. He's still pretty beaten up about it.
A high schooler hires him to figure out who murdered her high school boyfriend. He takes the case, and everyone thinks he's an idiot.
He is an idiot, and he stumbles around through stupid situations.
He stupidly stumbles onto the origami-themed clues that solve both the current murder and old disappearance.
It doesn't make the world a better place.
