Mary finds a sparkling flower which accidentally zips her off to a magical sky kingdom in the clouds.

This is why you always go mushroom hunting with an experienced guide.

The sky kingdom is run by a stereotypically evil madame who wants to get her hands on those sparkling flowers for use in her evil supervillain science experiments. She has a little Doctor Robotnik sidekick to run her experiments.

It's a school for witchcraft and wizardy.

The madame kidnaps Mary's friend to try to blackmail her into giving up the flowers. Mary eats a bunch of flowers to imbue her with magic for the ensuing fights. She learns that her great aunt was once a great witch, and fighting the madame is family tradition.

Her aunt doesn't help at all.

Mary saves the day and throws away the remaining sparkle flowers, because you don't need magic when you have friends.

Also because magic is highly dangerous.
